Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
We really have a wide-range of influences. Like my favorite band growing up has always been "Garbage". Hmm, I love 90's music and grunge. I know Jarrod is really into "Slipknot", which really adds a whole 'other element to our sound which I love. Jeff is more into "Billy Talent" and "Atreyu", so his bass riffs are badass. It's nice we're all into something different so it's not the same shit all the livelong day.
What inspires you to write your lyrics?
They stem from experiences I've had or are currently going through. They can be applied to relationships, but they can also be applied to friend dilemmas, and I like that transcending vibe. I should make the next song about shoes and dick…mix it up a bit.
How would you describe the music scene in Jacksonville FL.?
We've played with a vast array of bands. You really got your choice as to what you want to listen to around here. Jarrod hates it, there's not enough metal...which I defiantly agree with.
Who are your favorite bands to play shows with?
Recently, we played with "The Koffin Kats" and "Gutter Punx" which was fuckin' rad.
How can people go about buying your music and other merchandise?
The best way is either directly at our shows, or right off our myspace (myspace.com/thexplicits), which is our main site. It's as easy as pullin’ your tampon out of your snatch.
What's the craziest thing that's happen to you while playing a show?
I've had the "show us your boobs" line thrown at me a few times. Some guy wanted me to sign his manboob during a performance. Jarrod blew out speakers at 2 venues in a row. Gotta love that double bass.
Are you planning a U.S tour anytime soon?
We really want to, but we are putting that off for right now until we build a bigger fan base or get the attention of a label. But we definitely want to tour as soon as fuckin’ possible.
What's your favorite venue to play at?
Hmm...any venue where the sound guy isn't stoned. That's actually happened a couple times. I don't care if it's a hole in the wall, as long as the sound is good and the place is packed.
If you had the opportunity to work with one musician (living or dead) who would it be and why?
Good question. Jarrod wants to work with Joey Jordinson. I want to work with Butch Vig, he's an amazing producer. Jeff wants to work with Buddy Nielson.
Are you coming out with a full-length album anytime soon?
Well, we're hoping this demo will catch a lot of peoples attention...as well as a labels. We’ve only been together for 5 months, so we're really picking up speed. Don't worry, it's coming...
Last question, are you going to tell all your friends about thegraveyardgirls.com?
Yeah, definitely fa realz.
